As this version of the project begins to wrap-up, I'm thinking about what comes next. I still haven't gotten a book put together from last summer, so I'm not holding out a lot of hope for getting a book put together for this version. But it's on the list of projects, so maybe someday.
No, what I'm really thinking about is what kind of project I'd like to tackle next and where to put it. As I've noted before, the biggest difference between the 2022 and 2023 editions of 91 Days is that I didn't post the 2023 photos anywhere online other than on SubStack and it shows in the absolute lack of public interaction. And that's...fine. I don't really do this to make some grand statement; I started the project last year just to get out of the house more. I started the project this year to make myself get off the beaten path a little bit and find some new vistas to explore.
I'll talk more about how successful that has or hasn't been next week, in the final post for this series.
For now, though, I'm still sorting through 30 years worth of acquired gear and wondering what to do with it all that is both a challenge to me and interesting to you, the viewer. I've got a few ideas, but not much. In fact, I think what'll probably happen, first and for a while, is that the 91 Days site is going to go away. I'll figure out some way to archive the work and then mothball the site.
Then, at some point, I'm going to open a new subsection of Learned, call it Learned Photos or something, and make posting there a part of my regular weekly blatherings. It's a bit too complicated running two fully separate newsletters otherwise.
I realize that none of this is terribly exciting, it's just that I find myself back in the same position I was last summer - why take pictures at all? I still don't have a good answer other than, just 'cause. I mean, I've enjoyed having a dedicated photo project, but, on the other hand, it has been a bit of a pain. It's ended up on the to do list, i.e. something I had to get done too many times. And I don't really want to do that to myself again. Not right now anyway.
But I'll figure something out. And there will be more photos. Somewhere. But, for now, this project is wrapping up. Look for Week 13 out next week and that will be that for 91 Days, at least for the moment. Thanks for coming along and I hope you'll come along to whatever is next.
